Hazard-Screened Care: Shopping MADE SAFE Certified Products
Share
When a package shows a certification seal, it can feel reassuring — and still leave you unsure what was actually certified. The whole brand? A product line? One specific SKU? For everyday care, that distinction matters.
MADE SAFE is explicit: certification applies to individual products, not entire companies. That is why Veridame maintains a MADE SAFE Certified collection: care products that appear on the official MADE SAFE product registry after passing hazard-based and Ecosystem Approach screening.
What MADE SAFE certification requires
MADE SAFE is a binary pass/fail seal — not a numeric score. Products are screened for ingredients known or suspected to harm human health, animals, aquatic life, or ecosystems. Certification is granted per SKU after review; a brand's other products are not automatically included.
You can look up any certified product on madesafe.org. For example, only specific Babo Botanicals mineral sunscreen sticks may be certified even when other Babo products are not.
How Veridame's MADE SAFE Certified collection works
Our collection is product-scoped. We download the official registry, then match each store SKU to registry rows using brand normalization and product-name similarity against our integrated vendor catalogs. Operator-approved aliases resolve naming differences between vendor catalogs and the registry.
Products that match receive the made-safe-certified tag and a boolean made_safe_certified metafield so the standard stays visible on the product itself. The collection gathers tagged products automatically.
Membership refreshes from the registry — not from vendor marketing tags, EWG certification headings, or unrelated certification lists.

What this collection is not
Not vendor-wide. PETA Approved and some other programs classify companies or brands. MADE SAFE certifies specific products only.
Not a numeric safety score. SkinSAFE 100 reflects a product-level numeric allergen rating. MADE SAFE is a pass/fail hazard-screening seal.
Not the same as EWG Verified. EWG Verified evaluates products against ingredient and disclosure standards. MADE SAFE answers a different question: whether the specific SKU passed hazard-based screening for the seal.
Keeping those standards separate helps you match what you care about — hazard screening, ingredient transparency, allergen scores, or testing policy — without mixing them into one vague "clean" claim.

Frequently asked questions
Does MADE SAFE certify entire brands?
No. Certification is per product/SKU. Veridame matches individual catalog rows to the official registry; we do not assume every product from a certified brand is certified.
How does Veridame verify a product's certification?
We download the official MADE SAFE registry and match store SKUs by brand and product name (with operator-approved aliases where vendor naming differs). Only matched products receive the made-safe-certified tag and appear in the collection.
Can a product be MADE SAFE Certified and EWG Verified?
Yes. Those standards answer different questions. A product can appear in more than one Certified collection when it meets each collection's own rules.
How do I verify a product myself?
Search the product on madesafe.org, or use the MADE SAFE listing links above for products currently in our collection.
